Phase Transfer Catalysts are instrumental in transforming anions of inorganic salts into organic solvents and also to restore these salts into water phase by conducting chemical reactions under controlled environment. Also referred as PTC or heterogeneous catalysts, these chemicals contain ionic reactants that express their water solubility during aqueous phase, although these remain insoluble during their organic phase when there is no phase transfer catalysts.
